  • Overview

    The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will represent the Company and its Neurology/Epilepsy portfolio approved product and portfolio.

     

    The MSL will build long term peer to peer relationships with thought leaders, payers and other stakeholders within the CNS community to deliver clinical, scientific, and technical education on the role of Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS). The MSL is responsible for cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with influential members of the medical community to promote company, disease state and therapeutic awareness, in addition to serving as an advanced technical, scientific, and medical expert in CNS/Epilepsy for the assigned region. The MSL is responsible for developing, coordinating and assuring implementation of the Company’s corporate, scientific, and clinical strategies with these thought leaders within academic, clinical, and healthcare organizations. These scientific exchanges will support and/or expand current therapeutic concepts, as well as ensure the safe and effective utilization of the Company’s product(s).

     

    Additionally, the MSL will support the Company’s research initiatives and investigator-initiated clinical trials and participate in and contribute to projects and initiatives that increase the value and productivity of the Medical Affairs team.

    Accountabilities

    • Identifies, develops and manages KOL relationships on a continuum of advocacy in support of company objectives and enhancing the Company’s reputation as a scientifically-innovative industry partner.
    • Leads efforts in recognizing, identifying, cultivating, and integrating KOL relationships in specific therapeutic areas of interest to the Company’s Operations. Identifies opportunities for scientific growth and generation of medical evidence in support and/or expansion of current utilization of therapies and execution of mutual interest initiatives such as research and continuing medical education (CME).
    • Acquires and maintains a level of medical-scientific knowledge in Neurology / CNS and Epilepsy involving clinical issues related to the Company’s products; able to interpret and disseminate pertinent scientific/ clinical data and evaluates current and new information as it applies to therapies.
    • Contributes to periodic updates of Medical Information Request Forms (MIRFs) and responses to standard response letters (SRL) in a fair and balanced manner.
    • Tactical delivery of programs according to established objectives and serves as a resource for education and dissemination of pertinent, clear, and balanced medical-scientific information to internal audiences (Marketing, Medical Affairs, Research & Development and Sales) and external audiences (healthcare professionals, consumers, patient organizations, distributors, etc.).

    Qualifications

    • Advanced degree in a science related field (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO) or clinical experience in relevant discipline (ie. APN, NP, PA-C), preferred.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry preferred. Prior experience in providing MSL-level support to products or devices in specific therapeutic areas, including KOL development, investigator-initiated clinical trials, publications and educational programs highly preferred. MSL and/or strong clinical and research experience in Neurology is highly preferred.
    • Strong presentation and writing skills. Skilled in use of Microsoft Office suite (Powerpoint, Excel, Project etc.)
    • Results oriented and self-motivated. Knowledge of FDA requirements and PhRMA Code, including regulations governing compliant scientific exchange
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate and work in cross functional network/matrix
    • Demonstrated project management ability
    • Solid interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated relationship builder.
    • Ability to travel, locally and regionally, up to 60% (approx.10-12 overnights per month). May vary by regions.
